What is Sofia Alert and what is it for?

The Sofia Herrera case

Sofía disappeared on September 28, 2008 at a campsite in the city of Río Grande.province of Tierra del Fuego, Antarctica and South Atlantic Islands. She was 3 years old and at the moment she was not found.

The requirements to request the Sofia Alert

That the missing person is a child or adolescent (under 18 years of age).
That there is an official complaint.
That the case be communicated to SIFEBU.
That a criminal investigation is underway that verifies that the disappearance is linked to an illegitimate deprivation of liberty and/or that has ruled out alternative hypotheses to immediately locate the child or adolescent.
That the case is “Imminent High Risk”. The criteria for determining this situation are: that less than 72 hours have passed since the disappearance; that the missing person is disabled; that there is the presence of adults related to the disappearance; that an atypical situation has occurred; that a context of violence is evident; that the child or adolescent requires medication, among others.
That there be accurate, sufficient and relevant information to publicly disseminate the search, so that citizens cooperate in locating the missing child or adolescent and/or the person(s) responsible for their disappearance.
That the public dissemination of information related to the disappearance is not detrimental to the integrity of the child or adolescent.
The activation requirement must be expressly signed by the judicial authority.
