This was the young man who was killed in Los Campanos: he came from San Andrés a month ago

“God forgive your sins ‘Juanki’. Why did you come from San Andrés. Today I say goodbye to you. ‘Juanki’ flies high. May God have you in the Holy Kingdom of Him.”

With messages like that they began to say their last goodbye on social networks, especially on Facebook, to Juan Camilo De Ávila Caraballo, the young man, 20 years old, who hitmen killed on Monday night (June 24) in the San José de Los Campanos neighborhood.

‘Juanki’, as they called him since he was a child, came from San Andrés Islas less than a month ago to visit his parents in Cartagena.

Family and friends confirmed this Tuesday morning, outside the Forensic Medicine morgue, that indeed ‘Juanki’, as they called him since he was a child, came from San Andrés Islas less than a month ago to visit his parents and be with them for a few days in the La Victoria neighborhood. On Monday, says a close friend, Juan Camilo watched the soccer game between the Colombian and Paraguayan national teams with his friends and family. A while later, he started cooking some slices with sausage.

That’s what ‘Juanki’ was doing when he received a call on his cell phone and left for San José de Los Campanos. They say that a motorcycle picked him up at the corner of his house in La Victoria and about 20 minutes later they murdered him.

It was 9:40 at night. Just as he reached the main street of that neighborhood, in the Rafael sector, two hitmen appeared on a motorcycle and one of them, the grill man, shot him in the back at point-blank range and without saying a word.

‘Juanki’ was shot in the chest and another in the arm. On the same motorcycle that he arrived at that place, they took him to the Madre Bernarda Clinic, but the efforts were in vain.
