Engie Chile’s electrical transmission project in O’Higgins received environmental green light

Engie Chile has taken a crucial step in the O’Higgins region by receiving the favorable Environmental Qualification Resolution (RCA) for its electrical transmission project: the Totihue sectioning substation. This achievement was achieved after a unanimous vote by the Environmental Assessment Commission (COEVA) on the Environmental Impact Statement (DIA) presented by the company.

Located in the commune of Rengo, this initiative is the company’s first transmission project in the region, and emphasizes its commitment to sustainable energy development in Chile.

The project covers the construction of a new sectioning substation, by sectioning the 2×220 kV Candelaria – Puente Negro line. At the same time, it also considers the installation of a new 66 kV double circuit transmission line, between the Rosario substation (owned by CGE Transmisiones SA) and Totihue.

“This initiative will strengthen the electrical infrastructure and, at the same time, provide security to customers in the commune of Rengo and surrounding areas,” said Demian Talavera, managing director from GBU Networks Andes – Chile and Peru from Engie.
