Cuban actor Roly Chiong has arrived in the United States, a path not unknown to many young talents in recent times. Like other artists of his generation, Chiong opted for the northern country to continue his career, judging by his latest publications on social networks.

These past months, the actor was with his brother Sian in Mexico. The meeting of the children of the Cuban actor and television and film director Rolando Chiong generated thousands of comments on networks.

A week ago, Roly published his first photo in the United States, in which he is seen posing with the flag in the background.

Furthermore, on his Instagram profile he uploaded a video from Las Vegas, where he laughingly welcomed himself to the most illuminated city in the world.

“What was promised is a debt. Well, what was promised for me, for my mom, my dad and for my family. I have arrived. I’m here,” Chiong told his followers.

Although the artist has not confirmed that that city is his final destination in the US, many of his fans have expressed their support for the decision made and offered him their best wishes on the new path.

Known on the island for his work in various television and film productions, Roly was born in Havana in 1986 into a family of artists, headed by his father ‘El Chino Chiong’ and followed by his brothers Sinhue and Sian.

His professional career began as a camera assistant in his father’s work, until he later encouraged him to go to the casting of the series “Coco Verde”.

“Before acting I liked cinematography, I took a course, in fact, with Alberto Inerariti, so I started out as a camera assistant on the jobs my dad directed.

“It seems that later he realized that I liked acting because he sent me to the casting for ‘Coco Verde’, I showed up, and Roly Peña suggested that I start at the Olga Alonso, and he literally told me ‘you are in leather in the performance,’” Roly commented in an interview with the Cuban Television portal.

However, it was as a child that he had his first contact with cameras when he made, forced by his father as he said, a small character called ‘Pepito’ in the adventures “The Mambí Dragon”.

At the age of 16 he started in the Olga Alonso group, directed by Humberto Rodríguez, where he spent about a year and then passed the actor improvement course that guaranteed him the same professional status as the National School of Art.

Roly has worked on more than ten soap operas and series, two films, seven police films and three video clips, among other materials. His first steps in the novels were with “Al compás del son”, where his father did not want to give him the character, but after Maité Vera’s insistence he cast him three times and got the role of Miguelito.

Among his other most remembered works are the character of Omar in “En fin, el mar”, a violent and sexist man who mistreated his wife and son.

The public will also remember him for Alexis, a homosexual mechanic who falls in love with Leonel in the series “Breaking the Silence”, or for El Gato, a pimp who exploits young women in the soap opera “Vuelve a Mira”.

“Santa María del Porvenir”, “Of loves and hopes” and “In times of loving”, are other of the audiovisuals in which he has worked, to which are added his participation in the films “The human thing” and “The return”.

At 38 years old, the actor continues to win over Cuban audiences thanks to his dedication and versatility on stage. Now, the artist will begin a new path 90 miles from the island, where his followers already wish him a happy beginning of his “American dream.”
