Within the framework of the stoppage of activities by the Federation of Freight and Passenger Rail Transport, the union, through a statement, announced that the stoppage will continue until the State Railway Company (EFE) is able to guarantee the safe circulation of trains on the country’s tracks.
In the letter, it is established that they have held conversations with EFE. However, they say that this has not been able to guarantee the safety of railway traffic, since to date no improvement has been made in the mobilization systems, ensuring that the same operational conditions that resulted in the collision are maintained. of two trains with fatal consequences.
Let us remember that last Thursday a train accident occurred in San Bernardo, where two workers from the Fepasa company died. In this context, the San Bernardo guarantee court formalized the EFE train driver and controller who had been involved in the crash.
As a result of what happened and the subsequent suspension of the EFE train service between Alameda and Nos this morning, the president of EFE, Eric Martin, referred to the stoppage.
On the occasion, Martin indicated that they would be looking for solutions to resume connectivity and that they are working with DTPM – in the case of Santiago – to have support if the solution does not occur in the short term.
Workers from EFE Valparaíso and EFE Sur join the strike
From the Federation of Freight and Passenger Railway Transport, they established that as railway workers they cannot endanger the lives of their associates, much less their passengers.
Thus, they have decided not to operate the trains in the services managed by EFE, starting today, Sunday, and tomorrow, Monday, the EFE Valparaíso and Sur services would be added to the stoppage.
“We have decided not to operate the trains in the passenger services managed by EFE, leaving today, Sunday, with the Nos Express service, and adding to the stoppage tomorrow, Monday the 24th, the services of EFE Valparaíso and EFE Sur. This stoppage will remain until EFE is able to guarantee the safe circulation of trains on the tracks of our country,” they said in a statement.
