Wrexham want to convince Gareth Bale to return to football

Gareth Bale He was a passionate and frequent golfer when he was still active as a professional footballer. Once he retiredafter playing the 2022 World Cup in Qatar with the Wales national teamthe dedication to golf became absolute.

Although it has been more than a year and a half since his last game as a footballer, the Wrexham Hollywood actor Ryan Reynolds wants to convince Bale to come out of retirement. And with that objective he proposed to him that he can continue with his passion for golf whenever he wants.

Wrexham co-owner Rob McElhenney had already attempted to bring Balen out of retirement in 2023 when the team secured promotion to League Two. He had proposed to him to play again “for one last magical season”, but the ex-Real Madrid player rejected it.

“The offer is still on the table,” McElhenney said. And he added a very special condition directly to Bale: “We will let you play golf when you need to rest. If you come to train once or twice a week, we can find a way for you to spend 10 minutes on the court.”

Bale ended his historic career in January 2023, after leading Wales to their first World Cup in Qatar in 2022. The 34-year-old broke out at Tottenham, where he scored 71 goals in two periods, but it was at Real Madrid where he reached the peak of his career.

He won 21 titles during his nine years in Madrid, including five Champions League titles. He joined Los Angeles AFC of the MLS in 2022 and, despite having played only 13 games for that American team, he wrote his name in the history books: he scored the equalizer in the 128th minute in the 2022 MLS Cup final to force the penalty shootout that established LAFC as champion.
