In 2007, the 13 natural wonders of Mexico through a contest organized by the Tourism Promotion Council of Mexico and the television station Tv Azteca. And our country is considered internationally as one of the places in the world richest in nature and impressive landscapes.

With climates of all kinds, deserts, paradisiacal beaches and beautiful magical towns, Mexico has excited not only the foreign citizens who have had the fortune of knowing it, but also the Mexicans themselves who live with its wonders every day. Copper Canyon, located in the state of Chihuahua, is a vast canyon system in the Sierra Tarahumara that exceeds the Grand Canyon of the United States in size and depth. This impressive set of ravines includes some of the deepest and steepest in the world, offering spectacular landscapes and a rich ecosystem that is home to a great diversity of flora and fauna.

The Monarch Butterfly Biosphere Reserve, located mainly in the states of Michoacán and the State of Mexico, is a natural sanctuary dedicated to the protection of the monarch butterfly. Every year, millions of monarch butterflies make an epic migration from Canada to these fir forests, where they find the perfect climate to hibernate. It was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

Located in the state of Tamaulipas, the ‘El Cielo’ Biosphere Reserve is a protected natural area that encompasses a unique diversity of ecosystems, ranging from tropical forests to cloud forests and semi-deserts. This reserve, which covers more than 144,530 hectares, is home to rich biodiversity, including numerous endemic and endangered species of flora and fauna.

Located in the Gulf of Mexico, they are an integral part of the Veracruz Reef System, which includes more than 20 reefs distributed between the northern and southern areas, near the port of Veracruz and Antón Lizardo, respectively. This system, declared a National Park in 1992, is recognized for its notable biodiversity that includes corals, tropical fish, sponges and a wide variety of marine life.

The Sumidero Canyon, located in the state of Chiapas, Mexico, is an imposing gorge crossed by the Grijalva River, which is characterized by its cliffs up to a thousand meters high and its impressive natural beauty. This canyon is part of the Sumidero Canyon National Park, a reserve that is home to rich biodiversity including crocodiles, spider monkeys and a wide variety of birds.

Located in the state of Querétaro, the Peña de Bernal is one of the largest monoliths in the world, rising more than 350 meters above the town of Bernal. Formed around 65 million years ago, this impressive volcanic rock structure offers opportunities for hiking, climbing and exploration.

It is a surprising oasis in the middle of the Coahuila desert that is home to a series of pools and lagoons with crystalline waters, unique for their biodiversity and geological characteristics. This valley, protected as a Flora and Fauna Protection Area, is famous for its biological diversity, including endemic species of flora and fauna found nowhere else in the world.

Located in the state of Hidalgo, the Basaltic Prisms of Santa María Regla are unique geological formations composed of columns of basaltic rock that were formed thousands of years ago due to the slow cooling of volcanic lava.

Located in the state of Sonora, the ‘El Pinacate y Gran Desierto de Altar’ Biosphere Reserve is a vast expanse of desert that stands out for its impressive volcanic craters and varied geology. This UNESCO World Heritage site covers more than 714,566 hectares and is known for its lunar landscapes, moving dunes and its rich biodiversity, despite the extreme desert conditions.

The Sótano de las Golondrinas, located in San Luis Potosí, is a vertical cave with a free fall of 370 meters, considered one of the deepest in the world. This impressive abyss is home to thousands of birds, mainly swifts and parrots, which make spectacular flights at dawn and dusk.

Located in the state of Tabasco, the Centla Marshes are one of the most extensive and varied wetlands in Mexico, covering nearly 302,706 hectares. This ecosystem includes mangroves, swamps and bodies of fresh water, serving as a crucial refuge for a great diversity of bird, reptile and mammal species.

Located in the state of Quintana Roo, Xel-Há is an ecological and archaeological park known for its enormous natural cove where the fresh water of underground rivers mixes with the salt waters of the Caribbean. This unique ecosystem is home to rich marine and terrestrial biodiversity, and offers activities such as snorkeling, diving and tubing.

It is located in Jalisco. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This cultural landscape encompasses vast fields of blue agave, the plant used to produce tequila, and ancient distilleries dating back to the 16th century. The region reflects the interaction between man and the natural environment, highlighting the historical, cultural and economic importance of tequila.
