A humanitarian and public order crisis is facing 5 villages and 90 contractors of the company Petróleos Colombianos SA, for the blocking of the public roads Yopal, Algarrobo, Puente El Carcho, Escuela Vereda Claveles, in Casanare.

The complainant entity assured that, since last April 20, the company Agroindustrial Manare SAS decided to block passing through the road and demanding payment of money for allowing the use of this public space. Even, according to what they claim, to reinforce the obstruction, since last Wednesday the 24th, they used a tank truck and yellow machinery.

For this, The inhabitants are having difficulty obtaining food and other essential elements due to the confinement of which they are victims.. In fact, last Wednesday they prevented the passage of a sick person.

“Petróleos Colombianos SA calls on the national government and the Ombudsman’s Office to intervene as soon as possible, guaranteeing the well-being and rights to free mobility of collaborators and residents of the area,” the statement states.

Even, From the entity they asked the authorities and the control bodies to investigate the mayor of Yopal, Marco Tulio Ruíz, for being an alleged partner of Agroindustrial Manare SAS, the company responsible for the blockades, which could result in a possible conflict of interest.

“We reiterate the call to the competent authorities to take the necessary measures and restore free movement.” on public roads, guaranteeing the rights of the affected communities and allowing the normal development of activities in the region,” the petition concludes.
