Two soldiers died by ‘friendly fire’ in Guaviare: soldiers thought that dissidents were attacking them

In the Luis Carlos Camacho Leyva Battalion, of Calamar, department of the Guaviare, Two members of the National Army died after their companions mistook them for FARC dissidents and opened fire on them. In the midst of the events, another uniformed officer was injured.

According to what has been learned, the soldiers were patrolling the Damas village and were surprised by their companions, who thought they were guerrillas belonging to the Second Marquetalia, which has influence in this area of ​​the country.

For the moment, the National Army has not commented on the events, which are the subject of investigation by the relevant authorities.

In the department of Guaviare there are also structures of the Central General Staff of the FARC dissidents, which are led by alias ‘Iván Mordisco’, who is advancing in an attempt at peace dialogue with the Government of President Gustavo Petro.
