The province of García Rovira has been positioning itself as a region of tourist interest. The Government of Santander seeks to strengthen this potential.
The beauty of its landscapes, the sighting of endangered birds and the beauty of crafts and textiles made of wool make this province a tourism ‘mine’.
In the case of Cerrito, the veterinarian of the Jaime Duque park, Carlos Suárez, established a guided tour program where Almorzadero tourists can see the condor, visit the Alta Montaña El Salto refuge in the El Mortiño village and donate, according to their will, a contribution so that the species protection program continues.

For its part, Concepción, the wool capital of Colombia, attracted national and international buyers for the beauty of the products made with sheep wool.
Aware of the tourism potential of this region, the Santander Secretariat of Culture and Tourism will implement initiatives to facilitate the dissemination of the province’s wealth, train the inhabitants and improve accessibility conditions to the area.

“In Concepción, Governor Juvenal Díaz wants to enhance the knowledge we have regarding the transformation of wool into ruanas and textiles,” said the Secretary of Culture, Tomás León.
To achieve this, they will seek to organize a National Wool Festival so that the municipality is the epicenter of fashion made with this material.
The official indicated that to improve the issue of condor sightings, a plan will be implemented to improve the secondary and tertiary roads that give access to the moor and to publicize this type of tourism at international fairs.

Among the Departmental Government’s plans, they will also seek to promote the Balcony of the Stars in Macaravita and goat cuisine in Capitanejo.
