Young people from all over Cuba are summoned to climb to the highest point of the geography of their territories on June 14, to evoke the life and work of Ernesto Guevara and Antonio Maceo, on the anniversary of the birth of these exceptional fighters.
Sancti Spíritus will be the national headquarters of this historic rise, as reported to EscambrayAliandys Lazo Otero, president of the Martiano Youth Movement in the province, who confirmed that Caballete de Casa, in the municipality of Fomento, is the place chosen here for the emotional tribute.
According to the source itself, the participation of members of the youth movements and student organizations of the territory is expected, among them, the Secondary Education Student Federation (FEEM), and the University Student Federation (FEU).
According to Lazo Otero, in addition, young combatants from the Revolutionary Armed Forces, the Ministry of the Interior, the artistic avant-garde belonging to the Hermanos Saíz Association, and members of the José Martí Brigade of Art Instructors are also invited to the tribute.
“Sancti Spíritus joins as part of the day of activities for the anniversary of the births of Maceo and Che, called by the youth movement, as part of the actions carried out by the Union of Young Communists to commemorate the anniversary. “Also, we will remember the points of confluence between the thoughts of Ernesto Che Guevara and José Martí, according to the context in which they lived,” he expressed.
The site of Caballete de Casa, declared a National Monument, was chosen by Che as the camp of Column No. 8 Ciro Redondo after arriving at Escambray in October 1958. In that historic place, located in the current Sancti Spiritus municipality of Fomento, Important guerrilla actions were carried out to advance towards the definitive triumph of the Revolution.
