A firefighter from the Second Company of Coyhaique and an official from the Municipality of Coyhaique prevented a young man from committing suicide, apparently in the context of an argument with his partner.

The event occurred during the early hours of this Friday the 14th when at around 6:40 a.m. cries for help were heard from a woman in the Arturo Prat area of ​​the town. Several neighbors got up to see what was happening, thinking that it was an assault and saw that the woman was asking for help because her partner threatened to take her life.

A neighbor dedicated herself to restraining the woman, while the firefighter – who preferred not to identify himself Aysén Regional Newspaper– He entered an interior house and, to his stupor, discovered a young man of about 20 years old hanging with some pipes.

“He had three pitas wrapped around his neck and hanging at the entrance of the house,” the firefighter recalled. “I came out in shorts and a T-shirt with a stick because I thought they were hitting someone near the multi-court,” he added.

The volunteer from the Second Company quickly obtained a knife and managed to cut the rope, then he verified that he was unconscious, but that he had a pulse, so he helped him react until the Carabineros and the SAMU ambulance arrived.

SAMU professionals stabilized the young man and referred him to the Regional Hospital urgently for evaluation and he was already conscious.
