In an emotional event full of creativity and passion for letters, the Nariño Family Compensation Fund held the award ceremony for the Paz entre Letras short story and poetry contest.
The tribute, dedicated to the illustrious writers Gabriel García Márquez and Aurelio Arturo, took place at the Un Sol Para Todos Recreation Center, located in Chachagüí, and brought together numerous literature lovers from the region.
The director of Comfamiliar de Nariño, Sergio Agustín Suárez, headed this significant event, highlighting the importance of this initiative to promote the love of reading among the inhabitants of the department.

“This meeting has not only been a celebration of literary creativity, but also the starting point for our first short story and poetry contest, dedicated to two greats of universal literature,” Suárez mentioned during his speech.
With a total of 456 registered in the short story and poetry categories, the contest has managed to capture the interest and active participation of the community. Suárez emphasized the crucial role that young people play in this initiative, pointing to them as the protagonists of Nariño’s literary future.
“We are sowing the seed so that, in the future, we will see new talents emerge who can follow the legacy of such emblematic figures as Gabriel García Márquez and Aurelio Arturo,” he expressed enthusiastically.
