The Civil Guard arrested a 49-year-old Spanish man in the Riojan municipality of Albelda de Iregua in the early hours of this Tuesday as the alleged perpetrator of the brutal attack on a 28-year-old girl during the afternoon of … yesterday in a farm located near Erras Street in the town of Albelda de Iregua. The victim received multiple blows all over his body, as well as several cuts on his abdomen and forearm, to the point that he required transfer to the San Pedro de Logroño Hospital.
It so happens that the woman, a resident of the Arriba de Albelda de Iregua neighborhood, is the same one who was raped on March 8 by a resident of Basauri. The young woman was walking with her pet along the San Pelayo de Albelda de Iregua crossing. Suddenly, an individual, taking advantage of her great corpulence and superiority, pushed and threatened her, forcibly directing her towards an open field where a small shed is located.
Once inside the shed, this individual “took advantage of the state of fear and terror of his victim”, who was unable to resist as he was in ‘shock'”, according to the Civil Guard. At that moment he attacked her “physically and sexually in a brutal manner, then fleeing the scene.” The young woman had to be transferred to San Pedro Hospital to receive assistance for the injuries suffered.
The investigations, together with the statements of witnesses and evidence obtained, made it possible to determine the identity of the alleged aggressor. A 43-year-old resident of Basauri who was on the run from justice and hiding in a town in Álava. During the morning of April 9, the alleged perpetrator of the attack was located and arrested in Logroño. He is in provisional prison awaiting trial.
The beating she suffered this Monday afternoon – she has already received a medical discharge – is, now, the third attack that this young woman has suffered. In addition to the March rape, the victim was the target of another attack years ago by an ex-partner, who remains in prison.
