Maestranza Housing Project will have homes for health officials and older adults

The Maestranza Ferronor Project has become a national milestone of the Just Cities Program and the Housing Emergency policy, which seeks to create a city under criteria of integration, sustainability and integrated planning and which today will also include housing solutions for specific groups.

This is how the Maestranza Ciudad Justa Housing Diversification plan was launched on the ground and together with the Undersecretary of Housing Gabriela Elgueta, which will allocate three complementary housing projects on the Ferronor lands. In detail, 20 sheltered homes will be built for older adults; Progress is being made in the Housing for Workers program with 100 housing solutions for health officials at the Coquimbo Hospital. This includes the construction of another 100 homes for the Fair Price Rental program.

It should be remembered that the Maestranza Project considers the construction of 2,540 homes on 14 hectares that also include a high-standard urban park, a cultural center, children’s garden and service area. In its first stage, 392 apartments will be built through the DS49 Housing Choice Solidarity Fund and 152 apartments from the DS19 subsidy.

The mayor of Coquimbo Ali Manouchehri was satisfied with the progress of the project and thanked the government of President Gabriel Boric for the support to respond to the Housing Emergency in the commune, with works that involve quality housing solutions, social integration and spaces for community life and culture on land close to civic centers.

“A few years ago the municipality did not have any offer to cover the needs of residents who have struggled for years to access housing. Today we have land, projects and the commitment of the President of the Republic, the Minister of Housing, the Undersecretary and different services that have accompanied a comprehensive plan that allows us not only to cover the needs of building housing, but also to grant the families, quality of life. “This has already taken a path and a direction that will end with the delivery of housing and a significant improvement of the spaces where our people have to live.”

Valuing the urban recovery being carried out in Coquimbo, through the Maestranza Ferronor Project, the Undersecretary of Housing Gabriela Elgueta added that this initiative will provide the commune and the region with a high-level infrastructure that combines the urban with the housing and recovery and heritage and cultural conservation.

“The important thing is that housing will be developed here for vulnerable sectors, middle sectors and also a type of housing that we call protected, for older adults with supervised housing, rent at a fair price and the officials of the Coquimbo Hospital are also here with housing for workers. This will also allow us to have areas with a lot of social integration, in a high standard, but also providing infrastructure in public spaces.”

A PROJECT FOR EVERYONE

As part of this program, more than 100 housing solutions are included that will be delivered to health officials at the Coquimbo Hospital, through the DS19 subsidy.

To access them, Ximena Ampuero, representative of the multi-union of the Buenos Aires health facility, details that they are collecting the background information so that workers can apply for these homes. “What is better than having your own home and being in a cultural place like this in the commune of Coquimbo. So we are working to meet the requirements demanded in this project, which is that they be unionized workers and that, as a multi-union, leaves us very happy,” she added.

Rocío Rojas, president of the Coquimbo Hospital Nurses Association, highlights the opportunity to directly access housing, through the DS19 subsidy in a sector close to the facility that will allow her to improve her quality of life.

“Clearly the reconciliation of work life with family life is an issue that we work on with the unions and this comes to contribute, because it is crossing the street to get to our hospital and from there it will give us tranquility and calm with the families. “We are grateful for the opportunity given to us by the Ministry of Housing, the Municipality and all those who are behind this.”

On the other hand, 20 supervised homes will be allocated for older adults, which, according to the regional coordinator of SENAMA, Patricio Saldívar, is part of the Just Cities program that seeks dignified and healthy aging and that includes a professional who carries out activities with people. elderly and a nursing technician to review health problems.

“They provide a solution to older people who do not have homes and who are often alone and in these spaces, which are community-based, they are allowed to develop their life projects and be accompanied. This project also contains a diverse offer in culture and other services that allow the elderly of Coquimbo to have a housing solution and support.”
