Risk prevention experts are studying a plan to mobilize machinery and activate the alert system and, if necessary, evacuate the inhabitants of Pueblo Nuevo (Recetor), about 200 families, given the risk of landslides and rocks. detected in the La Vega ravine, in the upper part of the mountain a little less than two kilometers from the town center.
The mayor of Recetor, Diego Alberto Peña Cruz, has been leading the working groups, where the adoption of measures to protect the town and its inhabitants is discussed, after a technical inspection carried out by risk management experts, which managed to verify the destabilization of an area of land approximately five hectares in the upper part of the town center, located in the lower part of a ravine that could facilitate the dragging of material to the Cusiana River, where the houses, the Catholic temple and the park are built major.
According to the professionals in charge of the inspection, the conditions of the natural phenomenon, located 1.2 km from the town center, could trigger a movement in the mass of the earth, caused by the instability of the high mountain slope where the accident occurs. birth of several water sources that make up the La Vega stream, which flows into the Cusiana River, very close to Pueblo Nuevo.
After the visit, Mayor Diego Peña chaired a Municipal Disaster Risk Management Council, in which it was decided to establish an early warning system and, if necessary, an evacuation plan, to a place where people can get to safety.
