Given this, the Department of the Association of Traditional Authorities of the Regional Indigenous Council of Huila, reiterated in a statement the resounding rejection of the acts of violence recorded in each of the territoriesgenerated mostly by armed actors in Colombia.
“This event occurred in the ancestral territory of the Territory of the Nasa Huila Río Negro Indigenous Reservation, joins the murder of community member Victor Baicue Finscue, which occurred on October 4, 2023which shows that indigenous peoples have been systematic victims of human rights violations, such as threats, homicides, displacements and others,” the statement denounces.
And in the area there is presence of illegal armed groupsso they call on the national government to guarantee the safety of each of the members of the towns that are part of Huila.
“We reiterate that the association of traditional authorities of the indigenous regional council of Huila CRIHU, strongly rejects the presence of armed groups in indigenous territories affiliated with the organizationand even more so about the victimization of indigenous community members and territorial disharmonies,” the statement reads.
Likewise, the president of the CRIHU denounced the unfortunate situation that is being recorded in the Huila territory, where If the members of the indigenous communities refuse to be part of the illegal armed groups in the midst of the confrontations registered on the borders of Cauca and Huila, they are killed.
“We extend a hug of brotherhoodsolidarity and resistance to the ancestral territory of the Nasa del Huila Rio Negro Reservation, to its community members and authorities, but especially to the families of the victims of the absurd war that affects the territories,” the statement closes.
