Steven Gañán Villafañe, 20 years old, died in a tragic accident that occurred around 9:00 pm this holiday Monday, June 10, on the road that connects the El Tigre district of the municipality of Yondó, Antioquia, with Barrancabermeja, Santander.

According to versions provided by witnesses, the victim was traveling on his motorcycle, with QGD 65G license plates, when suddenly an animal crossed the road, without even giving him space or time to avoid it, causing him to crash in a spectacular manner.

“It is the usual problem on this road, there is very little lighting and apart from that the cattle leave the pastures and end up on the road. The boy was hit by a buffalo, he couldn’t see it in time and he couldn’t react and crashed into the animal,” said Anderson Castrillón, a resident of the area.

The strong crash caused serious injuries to the young man, which left him lifeless instantly.

Steven was a resident of the municipality of Yondó and a third-semester student of business administration at the University of Research and Development, UDI, in Barrancabermeja.

“Just on Friday I had gone on vacation. He was a studious and responsible boy. He frequently had to take that route because of the study, but that day he was doing some errands in Barranca and when they returned home that unfortunate event occurred,” said a person close to the victim.

This is the second incident in less than 15 days, in which, due to the lack of lighting and the presence of livestock on the roads, fatal accidents have been recorded in the region. On June 2, in the sector known as Rancho Camacho, on the Yuma road of the Oil Port, a motorcyclist identified as Marco Antonio Rueda Rincón died in the middle of an accident caused by the presence of a livestock.
