This Wednesday, the Prosecutor’s Office presented before a judge a head of the Carlos Patiño structure of the Central General Staff (EMC), the main dissident of the extinct FARC, who, apparently, was involved in eleven selective homicides that occurred between 2021 and 2023 in the department. of Cauca.

This is Yhon Jairo Basto, alias Cardona, who, according to the prosecuting body, was in charge of ordering the execution of crimes against people who were members of other criminal groups or who opposed the orders and restrictions given to the inhabitants. of the towns of La Fonda, Las Tallas, El Hoyo, Pan de Azúcar, Santa Cruz and Las Brisas, in Patía (Cauca).

Among these actions is the murder in September 2021 of a citizen in the Buena Vista hamlet, in which, by order of Basto, they shot him eight times, causing his death on the spot.

“Likewise, he would be responsible for the murder of two men, in May 2022, in the Las Tallas hamlet. On that occasion he would have accompanied the illegal group that attacked the victims with pistols,” the information added.

For these events, Basto was charged with the crimes of aggravated homicide and aggravated manufacturing, trafficking, carrying or possession of firearms, accessories, parts or ammunition. The charges were not accepted.
