It is a project resulting from the cooperation between the embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, the Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry (Icaic) and Palomas, the director said.

In the world and especially in our region, it happens that all women who ask and pray for their family and for their own lives are often in danger, excluded, disadvantaged or in extreme poverty, he noted. Town.

“I think that through this documentary we can find many women who are silenced because they are barely represented in the media,” she added.

According to the Palomas leader, when religious topics are discussed in Cuba, those stories are mostly about men, about the diversity of beliefs.

In the audiovisual field we want to pay the social debt and continue our contribution to the National Program for the Advancement of Women (PAM), to family law, but above all to the spirituality of Cubans, he stated.

We always say that Cuba is a woman and several religions are intertwined in it, which wish the inhabitants of this Island well-being and prosperity, he declared.

Religious expressions among religious women include Catholicism, Evangelism, Santeria, Spiritualism, Buddhism, Greek, Russian and Jewish Orthodoxy, Islam and the Daughters of Acacia, the female part of the Freemasonry fraternity, – a field in which a large part of the population does not know – even a part of the consciousness, Vila explained.

The director pointed out that this sample only represents the wide spectrum of religious practices in Cuba, where the majority of the faithful are women.

The 24-minute documentary has a script by researcher Teresa Díaz Canals and narrated by announcer Marino Luzardo and actress Liliana Lam, and during filming and post-production we reached a conclusion: there is a theology of everyday life and it is what we do. women when we pray to a god, a statue or any spiritual figure that we ask to protect us, she said.

She noted that Women of Faith is about what these Cuban women want through the requests and prayers of their country, which is why it reaches none other than La Bayamesa, Carlos Manuel de Céspedes, Francisco Castillo and José Fornaris.

It is a way of making us feel that everyone is with us in moments of pain and also in moments of redemption, which is why they talk about their leadership in the public and private spheres, Vila stated.

With Women of faith…signs of loyalty, the project pays tribute to Icaic on its 65th anniversary, he highlighted.

She announced that Palomas has immersed herself in a new work called Let’s paint the Cuban economy purple so that no one is left behind, which is also a contribution to the PAM and honors the contribution of feminism to gender, the environment and society.
