The provincial deputy and president of the Radical Civic Union Bloc (UCR), Silvana Di Stefano, highlighted the importance of the complaints filed by the Government of Santa Fe before the Public Prosecutor’s Office, for the alleged crime of exploitation, administration and operation of games of chance by betting websites.

It is worth remembering that through different complaints, it is requested that the bank accounts of 385 domains being sued be blocked and seized, which not only affect public treasuries, but also enable access to a large number of inhabitants – including minors – , to games, bets or raffles.

“Fighting illegal online gambling also means thinking about our young people and their education; many of these transactions were even detected by school internet networks,” said Di Stefano.

The theme was also echoed in the National Meeting of legislators, of which Di Stefano was part and was developed under the motto “Childhood and Adolescence in Argentina: current situation and immediate challenges.”

Throughout the two days, there was also a space for the exchange of experiences and provincial projects, where legislators shared the current state of policies for youth in their different jurisdictions.

“It is an issue that worries us, mainly because of the harmful and sometimes dramatic consequences that online gambling causes in adolescents and their families,” lamented the president of the UCR Block.

“Many young people from Santa Fe access legal platforms through money transfers in virtual wallets. For this reason, we suggest that measures be taken to prevent the entry of minors into the gaming universe and prevent the proliferation of clandestine online casinos,” the legislator concluded.
